The Signature Wedding Package

Your ceremony. Your story. Your way.

Your wedding ceremony doesn't need to sound like anyone else's.

The Signature Package is for couples who want a ceremony that's personal, relaxed and genuinely about them. We'll create something together that reflects your relationship, your personalities and the kind of wedding you want — without including traditions simply because you're supposed to.

You can keep things simple, add plenty of personality, include the people you love, have everyone laughing, make them cry, or do a bit of all of it.

This is where the fun starts.
There isn't one correct way to have a wedding ceremony. Your Signature ceremony can be built around the things that matter to you and leave out the things that don't.

Tell Your Story

I can weave your story into the ceremony — how you met, first impressions, that first date you still argue about (affectionately), memorable moments, what you love about each other, funny stories, the proposal, adventures together, family life, or what marriage means to you.

It doesn't need to become a full biography. Some couples want a few well-chosen moments; others want guests to really get the picture. You decide how much to include.

Write Your Own Vows

Personal vows are optional — and lovely when they suit you. Whether you know exactly what you want to say, have a rough idea, or have absolutely no idea where to start, I can help with guidance and examples without making your vows sound generic.

You'll still say the words required by Australian marriage law. Personal vows sit alongside those, not instead of them.

Exchange Rings

Rings aren't a legal requirement. If you want them, we can include a traditional ring exchange, write your own ring wording, or keep it very simple. If you'd rather skip rings altogether, that's fine too.

Include a Reading

A friend or family member can take part by delivering a reading. It doesn't have to be formal or traditional — meaningful, funny, romantic, from a favourite book, a poem, or something written just for you.

I can share a library of reading suggestions to match your style. (I won't paste copyrighted poems or lyrics onto the website — we'll work through options together.)

Include Your Favourite People

Important people can take part in ways that feel natural — readings, witnessing, bringing the rings, welcoming guests, joining a ritual, or simply being acknowledged. There's no fixed script for this; we'll choose what fits your people and your day.

Include Your Children

If you're bringing families together or simply want your children there in a meaningful way, they can help with rings, join a ritual, be specially acknowledged, make family promises, sign a keepsake (not a legal document), stand with you — or just be part of the moment with no formal role at all.

Handfasting

Handfasting is a symbolic joining of hands — often with ribbons or cords in colours that mean something to you — and it can sit comfortably within a modern wedding ceremony. It's optional, visual and personal when it suits the couple.

Add a Unity Ritual

If a symbolic moment matters to you, we can talk about how to make it work — handfasting, candle lighting, a sand ceremony, planting, a family ritual, or another personally meaningful action.

I'm not here to load the ceremony with gimmicks. If it means something to you, we can talk about how to make it work.

Acknowledgement of Country

An Acknowledgement of Country can be included in the ceremony where it feels appropriate. The wording should respect the land on which you're marrying — we'll tailor it to your location rather than assuming Traditional Owners for a place we haven't confirmed.

Remember Someone Important

Some couples want to acknowledge someone who has died or can't be there. It can be subtle — a brief mention, a photograph, a reserved seat, a meaningful object or flower, or a private reference in the ceremony. It doesn't need to turn the wedding into a memorial.

Go Unplugged

Prefer guests put phones and cameras away so everyone is actually present? I can make a lighthearted unplugged announcement so you don't have to police the front row yourself.

Yes, Your Ceremony Can Be Funny

Wedding ceremonies don't have to be solemn from beginning to end. If humour suits you, we can include funny stories, observations about your relationship, lighthearted moments and personality — without turning it into a comedy routine or embarrassing anyone.

The best ceremonies often have people laughing one minute and reaching for a tissue the next.

Keep the Traditions You Love. Skip the Ones You Don't.

You don't need to include wedding traditions simply because other weddings do. We'll talk through what matters to you. The ceremony should reflect the two of you — not a template.

F A Q

Straight answers about the Signature Package.

How long is a Signature wedding ceremony?

It depends on what you want to include. Some couples keep it shorter; others like more story, readings and rituals. We'll shape the length around you rather than forcing a fixed template.

Do we have to write our own vows?

No. Personal vows are optional. You still need to say the words required by Australian marriage law.

Can you help us write our vows?

Yes. Whether you know exactly what you want to say or don't know where to start, I can help with guidance and examples without making your vows sound generic.

Can our children be part of the ceremony?

Yes — from a formal role to simply being part of the moment. We'll choose something that feels comfortable for them and for you.

Can we include a handfasting or another ritual?

Yes. Handfasting, candle or sand rituals and other meaningful symbolic moments can be part of a Signature ceremony when they suit you.

Can a friend or family member do a reading?

Absolutely. Readings are a lovely way to include someone special, and I can help with suggestions to match your style.

Can our ceremony be funny?

Yes, if that feels like you. Humour works best when it's genuine — never at anyone's expense.

Do we need a rehearsal?

It depends on your venue, bridal party and how complex the ceremony flow is. We can talk about whether a rehearsal would help for your day.

How personalised will our ceremony be?

Fully customisable is the point of Signature. Your story, tone, inclusions and the overall feel are built around you — not a one-size-fits-all script.

Do we get to see the ceremony before the wedding?

We'll work through the content together as we build it. If you'd like a clear written draft before the day, say so when we chat and we'll confirm how that fits your timeline.

What legal paperwork does Allison handle?

The Signature Package includes provision of all legal documentation, including lodgement of the Notice of Intended Marriage. After the ceremony, I lodge the required marriage documentation with the relevant authority. Under Australian law you generally need to give notice at least one calendar month before the ceremony (and no more than 18 months before).
